In response to the recent flooding throughout Northwest Florida, the Community Foundation of Northwest Florida opened the Disaster Relief Fund with a major contribution of $25,000 from the D. W. McMillan Foundation. Additional donations received into this fund will help provide grants to nonprofit agencies in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Oklaloosa, Walton, Bay, Washington, Holmes and Calhoun Counties. The Disaster Relief Fund will be administered by the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation.
“Our hearts go out to all our neighbors and fellow residents who are facing setbacks due to the recent floods,” said Allison Sinrod, Trustee for the D.W. Millan Foundation. “We want to make every effort to assist those in need and plan for the future when opportunities arise. I know the CFNWF will provide excellent assistance and we truly appreciate their efforts.”
“We are very grateful to D. W. McMillan Foundation for this generous gift that will aid in the community’s efforts to deal with this and future disasters,” said Eric Nickelsen, Board Chairman for the CFNWF.
Mike Wiggins, board member and former Mayor of Pensacola said, “This is a great example of how a generous donor can make a positive difference for our community, and I hope others will follow the McMillan’s lead.”
